STATESVILLE — Rep. Virginia Foxx fielded questions about the controversial health care bill for an hour and a half Monday.
While President Barack Obama is making a strong push this week to pass the bill, Foxx is doing her best to make sure it fails.
"It doesn't solve any of the problems that the American people say they want solved, which is to lower cost and make insurance and health care more accessible," Foxx, a Republican, said.
People packed into the Statesville Civic Center to hear Foxx's argument. Some voiced similar concerns.
Foxx's Democratic opponent, Billy Kennedy, attended the event and said the bill needs to be passed.
"The people I've been meeting with want a change and they want to know they're not going to lose everything that they've worked for all their life because they got sick," Kennedy said.
